Hot Spot Analysis
The hot spot (HS) analyses of both the RA index and the C40 index found that the terminal moraine in the main valley (polygon 12A) was a hot spot with a high positive standard deviation value, meaning that it had higher than average values for both the RA and the C40 indexes and that the polygons surrounding it also had higher values in both cases. For the RA index HS map, this moraine was the only hotspot area, while on the C40 index map, the mouth of the main outwash plain (polygon 19A) was also a hotspot, although less so than the terminal moraine.
On the D50 HS map, there was one hotspot which was located on a moraine (polygon 12B), although unlike for the RA and C40 index values, it was not the terminal moraine. The residual value associated with this hot spot was not that large which indicates that it is not a strong hot spot. Similarly to the D50 HS map, there is only one HS on the vegetation density map, although it does have a strong residual value. This hot spot is located in a polygon representing a lacustrine deposit in the South Creek tributary valley (polygon 28B). The HS map for clast abundance values shows that there are two polygons that are hot spots, one on the north shore deposits which coincides with an area of fluvially reworked glacial material (polygon 2) and the other is on the main valley outwash plain in an old river channel that cuts across the plain (polygon 13).
